Established in 2022 we (The founders of the business) wanted to create an independent business which services the demand for good quality independent advice in the East Anglian region. Having over 100 years combined professional experience, we felt well placed to be able to create a firm which can provide high quality advice to clients locally, whilst embracing modern working practices through technology. The concept is to create a multigenerational local business which aims to service its clients, staff and other key stakeholders including other professionals, for decades to come.
“Traditional values in a modern world.”
Andrew Johnson and Beverley Monk are the founding Directors and shareholders of East Anglian Financial Planning. Having been involved for many years in a financial services business locally, Andrew and Beverley knew there was demand for a regional independent financial planning firm. An opportunity arose to purchase a business which was in the process of being closed down, a business which they had previously been involved with, KGS Financial Services Ltd. The business was purchased by Andrew and Beverley as sole shareholders and via the necessary regulatory process change of control, was rebranded to East Anglian Financial Planning Ltd (EAFP), allowing it to be launched as a new entrant to the market.
With their experience and knowledge of the local market, Andrew and Beverley approached a group of advisers who had recently left another local firm of independent financial advisers and were in various stages of looking for new opportunities. These advisers were well known by Andrew and Beverley based on their high profiles in Ipswich and Colchester and known to be highly respected with many years of experience. They were therefore potentially ideally suited to the new venture and discussions took place on the concept of creating a new regional firm, with the client at the centre of the proposition whist remaining locally owned and independent. This struck a cord with all five of the advisers who were looking for positions and they all were excited to become part of such a business. For all parties it was important to create a firm where the Directors were involved with the business vision and more importantly had a voice and control to shape and move the grow and develop the business with the intention for it to become a significant IFA business advising and servicing clients in the East Anglian region. East Anglian Financial Planning was formed and the concept and business objectives of “traditional values in a modern world” was born. The five advisers joined Andrew and Beverley in the newly named business, they were appointed Directors and the business plan is for the advisers to ultimately own the business from the founders.
